The Magic Circle Close Up Magician Of The Year Competition for 2016 was held at The Centre for the Magical Arts on Monday 25th January 2016.

The competitors performed for an invited lay audience in the deviant room, with Bob Hamilton relaying video to the theatre for members to watch. Richard Pinner introduced each of the eight acts who then had between 6 and 8 minutes to perform.

The winner of The Magic Circle Close Up Magician Of The Year 2016 was Brendan Rodrigues, a theatre favourite who received a standing ovation

Second place was awarded to Danny Lee Grew, with third place going to Dave Loosley. The originality prize was awarded to Noel Qualter for the third year running. Congratulations of all of the competitors.

Congratulations to Brendan Rodrigues AIMC for winning The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year 2016. His dextrous skills with vanishing and reappearing pens, along with high speed visual object manipulations won over the audience getting him the top prize.
